This oak plaque was commissioned to honour the memory of Stephen Trice, a freeman of the River Medway following his tragic death at sea. It was dedicated to the Freeman of the River Medway in Rochester Cathedral and recognises links between the Cathedral, old City of Rochester and the Rochester Oyster and Floating Fishery. It depicts a traditional bawley under full sail in Tower Reach with the iconic Rochester skyline of the Cathedral and Castle in the background. The plaque is on permanent display in Rochester Cathedral.
